What Is Pollution?

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms.

Pollution is usually caused by human actions, but can also be the consequence of natural disasters. Pollution can also occur from disruption or damage to wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure due to severe natural events like hurricanes or flooding.

Most types of pollution affect the immediate area surrounding the source, and reduce as you move away from the source.

Different types of pollution: air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, environmental pollution, soil pollution, gaseous pollution.
