What Is a Podcast?

Answer:

A podcast is a series of digital media that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication. The word usurped webcast in common vernacular, due to rising popularity of the iPod and the innovation of web feeds.

At the core a podcast is an audio or video file that is automatically received from the internet and then synced to your Mp3 or Mp4 player. The files are received by subscribing to what's called a podcast feed. Sometimes you also hear this called an RSS feed, but that is just geek speak that gets used to try and impress you.

When using the word “podcast”, most people refer to the entire series and not just one audio or video file.
