What Is Liberalism?

Liberalism places the individual against society where society is a threat to the individual. The biggest threat to liberalism is the government and the view of the masses which are opposed to the freedom of the individual. Rights of the individual must at all times be protected — if the government fails in doing so, it is not necessary to abide by its laws any more. Liberalism propagates the unrestricted freedom of the individual (and man in general) who must not be bound to any conditions. This freedom must be obtained by tolerance, which will eliminate any criticism and protect its own liberal and unbound views.
