What Is Humanism?
Doctrine which pushes human prosperity to the fore; philosophical school which tries to promote cultural and aesthetic values and which opposes bodies and ideas which can be detrimental to the well-being of man; philosophical thought prevalent from 14th – 16th centuries characterized by renewed interest in ancient philosophy and literature; philosophy of life regarding man as the measure of all things: there is no existence and truth outside man and his abilities — his needs alone should be satisfied.
